For you, what is the most urgent social issue facing young people in Hong Kong today?
There are so many – but whether it’s housing, bullying, academic and peer pressure, mental health or pollution, what these issues have in common is that they make young people feel helpless. Make them feel like here’s no hope for the future. I understand why they feel this way… Life in Hong Kong isn’t easy!

What are your expectations for the “#Be the Change” project?
To make sure people are aware that we’re already ingesting plastic through the fish and table salt we eat, because so much of our waste ends up in our oceans. Our goal is to get 1,000 people to pledge to use their own lunchboxes and ditch plastic straws.

One thing that you have done for justice.
I co-wrote a strategy paper for Justice Without Borders on the resources available to domestic workers faced with physical and sexual abuse. Unfortunately, bullying is not specifically addressed in the law, and most people suffer in silence rather than speaking up.

How do you cope when you’re faced with problems?
I clench my teeth and deal with whatever it is head on … Sometimes with an axe and wearing a helmet! I also sleep on things; then dance the stress off.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
If I could, I’d be a goddess so that my powers were all encompassing! Otherwise, more funding for the performing arts please!

Do you have any advice for youngsters who are passionate about the arts?
Start now! You have no excuse! With a phone, the internet and social media, you can start your career and share your work with the world right now. Don’t wait for a job to be handed to you. Also, educate yourself about money and start saving early, because “money” is the most common excuse people give themselves for not doing what they love.

What is your favourite book and why?
“The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life” by Mark Manson. The title alone has changed my outlook on life. When my fears get in the way, I just think of the book title and somehow it helps me become braver.
